Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
- Describe the characteristics of open pedagogy
- Describe how open pedagogy relates to course learning goals and/or student learning outcomes
- Situate open pedagogy in the context of other asset pedagogies, including culturally sustaining pedagogy, trauma-informed pedagogy, and universal design for learning (UDL)
- Use backward design to create an open pedagogy assignment, integrating other asset-based pedagogies where possible
Activities to be completed prior to first Zoom session on Wednesday, July 29:
These activities will seed our conversations with colleagues in our synchronous session.
- Watch the Introduction to Open Pedagogy video (approximately 1 hour) and post a reflection response.
- Browse examples of open pedagogy and post ideas for activities and assignments.
- Add a song to the Open Pedagogy Playlist; this will be the soundscape for our journey together.

- Choose one open pedagogy assignment to focus on and begin to develop using backward design
- Share your open pedagogy activity or assignment with your disciplinary colleagues (according to how you self-identify):
